Mr. Woody was born January 30, 1941 in Long, Oklahoma, the son of Raymond Woody and Maxine (Stites) Woody. He attended Prices Chapel country school and was a 1959 graduate of Sallisaw High School, where he was an exceptional athlete. He was awarded a baseball scholarship to Bacone College in Muskogee. He was married to E. Nadine Hollis on April 21, 1962 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. His 1st job was at Wards Furniture in Ft. Smith. In 1965, he began his career in highway construction, retiring after 43 years. Due to the number of years in this industry he made numerous friends. He remained involved in the business as a consultant due to his love and dedication for his work, even after his retirement. Mr. Woody had much respect for all of his colleagues, but had a deep admiration and love for the Turner and Abbott families. He enjoyed horses, softball, fishing with his brothers and playing cards with his friends. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He passed this life on September 8, 2008 at his home in Sallisaw, Ok. after having attained the age of 67 years, 7 months and 9 days.
Survivors are: wife of 46 years: Nadine of the home 3 daughters and sons in law: Donna and Rex Rector of Coweta, Ok., Tamera Eagle and Eleazar Hernandez of Sallisaw, Ok. and Shelley and Jeremy McKean of Long Island, NY 1 son and daughter in law: Johnny and Aimee Spencer of Sallisaw, Ok. 4 grandsons: Justin and wife, Brandi Reid, Trey Jordan, Dillon Eagle, Noah Spencer 3 granddaughters: Makyla and Bailey McKean and Journey Rector 1 great grandson: Keigan Monroe Reid mother: Maxine Woody of Sallisaw, Ok. 1 sister: Shirley Jenkins of Sallisaw, Ok. 4 brothers: Glen and Freddy Woody, both of Akins community, Ok., Johnny and Dennis Woody, both of Sallisaw, Ok.
