Charles Edward Wade (Charlie or Chuck), 71, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The "Celebration of Life" Memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Elim Church, 601 W. Choctaw, Sallisaw, OK 74955.  Reverend Vernon Stone of Flower Hill Church of Bokoshe, Oklahoma, will be officiating.

Charles Wade was born in Lewiston, Maine, on October 11, 1943.  He graduated from Rockland High School in Rockland, Maine in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He received his Associates Degree in Business at Connors State College in Warner, OK.

Charles married Georgia Choate from Marble City, Oklahoma, on June 27, 1964 on Governor’s Island, Fort Jay, New York. They were married 51 years.

Charles worked as the Administrator for Sequoyah Memorial Hospital before he retired in 2008. He worked at the hospital for 43 years, also serving as a Lab Tech and Assistant Administrator. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed wood working and home brewing, winning many awards. He was actively involved in the River Valley Ale Raisers. He loved spending time with his family, including storytelling and hours of discussions on any and all topics.

Charles is survived by Georgia of the home, two sons, Edward Wade and his wife Amy of Moore, OK and Robert Wade and his wife Michelle of Sallisaw, OK. Eleven grandchildren are Jessica Wade and Zach Willey of Norman, OK; Morgan Whitson and husband Matt of Mulberry, AR; Collin Wade of Moore, OK; McKenzie Maynard and husband Michael of Yuma, AZ; Megan Copeland and husband David of Vian, OK; Evan Wade of Moore, OK; and Jason Basden of Sallisaw, OK. Other survivors include his brother, John Wade and his wife Cathy of Lincolnville, ME; sister-in-law, Mildred Taylor of Dwight Mission, OK; brother-in-law Mackie Brooks of Dwight Mission, OK; Lelland Choate and his wife, Jana of Dwight Mission, OK; many special nieces and nephews, and a very special lifelong friend, Dr. Bert N. Corley.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John Michael and Jeanne Ida Marie Lauze’ Wade, two sisters, Mary Elaine and Patricia Wade and special friend Burl Massey.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Sequoyah Memorial Hospital Helping Hands Fund, 213 E. Redwood, Sallisaw, OK 74955. The family of Charles Wade wishes to thank the staff of Sequoyah Memorial Hospital and Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR, for the care given to him during his recent illness.
