Monice Summerlin was born January 9, 1931 in Gore, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Mary (Snyder) Bennett. On December 23, 1946, Monice married Walter Lee Summerlin in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. They were married 68 years before Walter passed on February 28, 2015. Monice was 86 years old when she passed this life on April 12, 2017 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Survivors are: 2 sons and daughters in law: Larry and Elaine Summerlin of Vian, OK and Ronald and Bonnie Summerlin of Gore, OK 5 grandchildren: Ronnie, Holly, Kara, Michael, and Bren 7 great grandchildren Monice was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Bobby and Michael; her parents, John and Mary Bennett; and 8 brothers and sisters Monice dedicated her life to serving others. She was an artist, bookkeeper and accountant, with an unparalleled eye for detail. She was an avid wrestling fan and also enjoyed painting, drawing, coloring, sewing and reading. Her strong and resolute nature will always be remembered by her friends and family. Funeral service will be Monday, April 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  Burial will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery, west of Vian, Oklahoma. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Summerlin, Bren Summerlin, Dalton Moore, Bobby Summerlin, Bill Baker, and Kenny Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Holly McPherson, Luke McPherson, Kara Baker, Wren Baker, Jacob Summerlin, Ayla Summerlin, Avery Summerlin, Cody Thomas, Michaelee Summerlin, and Ryan McPherson. Viewing will be Sunday 2 - 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
