Chester B. Jones, 84, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on December 21, 2015. He was born April 9, 1931 the son of the late Chester McReynolds and Ida Mae Jones. Chester, known to many as Biggin, was born and raised in Braggs, Oklahoma. Shortly after graduating from Braggs High School, Chester enlisted into the U.S. Army and served his country honorably, including overseas service in Germany, Korea, and a combat tour in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star. He retired after 20 years and 5 months as a Master Sergeant in 1969.

He spent the next 23 years working for Anderson Wholesale Company of Muskogee, Oklahoma until retiring again in 1993. Chester and wife Renate lived in Muskogee for numerous years until moving to the Tenkiller area where they resided for 20 plus years. They moved to Sallisaw to be next to their daughter Paula.

In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer, Ceslar, Burl and Bert Ray; sisters, Wanda Herd and Janice Petrie; and grandson, Ryan Jones.

Survivors are: wife of 63 years, Renate Jones of Sallisaw, OK; daughter, Paula Carlton of Sallisaw, OK; son, Ronnie Jones and wife Penny of Lampasas, TX; son, Raymond Jones and wife Nancy of Ft. Gibson, OK; son, Melvin Jones and wife Cathy of Mansfield, TX; son, Robert Jones and wife Cindy of Muskogee, OK; brother, Glen Jones and wife Barbara of Colorado; brother, Brodie Jones and wife Roberta of Tahlequah, OK; sister, Bertie Metzger and husband Jerry of Braggs, OK; 9 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 1 pm at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma with full military honors. Services are under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
