Mr. Helms was born July 6, 1935 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the son of Tony Franklin Helms and Velma Alice (Haire) Helms. He married Wilma "Carla" Helms on August 2, 1958 in Howe, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2000 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Helms was a Truck Driver for 35 years, and City Councilman, Vice Mayor, and Mayor all for the city of Roland. He passed this life on November 13, 2006 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas after having attained the age of 71 years, 4 months and 7 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Tony Helms and Mrs. Velma Haire Helms;
