Joanne (Simon) Elbon, 70, of Vian, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was born February 1, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Speer) Simon. She was married to Chief Elbon on December 4, 1963 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She has a Masters Degree in Education and was a retired teacher at Vian Public Schools for 33 years and a Professor at Carl Albert State College for 15 years.

1 son: Jason Elbon and Fiance, Lisa Wright of Vian, OK
2 granddaughters: Adrianna Faith Elbon of Vian, OK and Addison Grace Elbon of Vian, OK
1 brother: Jerry Paul Simon and wife, Sally of Vian, OK
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pauline Simon and 1 sister, Janie
Funeral service is Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10 am at Vian Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
Viewing will be Monday from 2 - 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet friends from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
