Obituary

Carl W. Dunn was born April 21, 1930 in Sallisaw, OK and passed peacefully September 25, 2012 in Vian, OK. He was 82 years old. Carl attended Sallisaw high school, Class of 1951. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Buckley 1947-1950 and then in the Navy Reserves until 1954.  Carl made his home in Stockton, CA where he worked for Greyhound Lines as a bus driver. In 1982, Carl received the company’s Safe Driving Award. After retiring from Greyhound, Carl drove for the Stockton Ports, the Single A baseball team for the Milwaukee Brewers. When not driving, Carl was in the air flying. He was a member of the Pilot’s Association at Gottschalk Flight Center.  Carl volunteered as a San Joaquin County long-term care Ombudsmen. In 2002, he was awarded the President’s Volunteer Services Award for his many years of volunteer service.  In 2004, Carl moved back to Sallisaw where he reunited with old friends and spent time with his family.

Carl was preceded in death by his mother: Delia Hulse Dunn Eppler,his father: John Dunn, stepfather: Bill Eppler,
brothers: Johnny Dunn and Roy Eppler, and sisters:
Oleta Lukehart and Martha Ann McGowan.

Carl is survived by his children:
 Deborah Will of Maple Valley, WA and
Michael Dunn of Stockton, CA,

grandchildren: Jeffrey Will, Michael Dunn,
Jenna Will, and Nicole Dunn,

brothers: Bill Eppler, Calvin Eppler and Ted Eppler,
 sister: Ruby Henry, and many nephews and nieces.
