Obituaries




  It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Lester Lee Cruse, age 90, of Vian, Oklahoma.  Lester Lee Cruse, born March 2, 1926, in Norman, Oklahoma of Noel Titus Cruse and Kathrene Armbrust Cruse.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.  Lester proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theatre.  He followed his dreams and traveled the world as an airline pilot, flying for multiple airlines, notably Trans World Airlines, Trans Mediterranean Airlines, and Saudi Arabian Airlines.  After retirement, he became an avid quilter, winning many blue ribbons regionally. As a passionate sports fisherman, he fished all over the world.  He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kay Whitworth Cruse; his oldest daughter, Glenda Cruse Hesson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and her husband, Clark and daughter Heather, and his youngest daughter, Shari Cruse Carter of Memphis, Tennessee and her two daughters, Leslie and Melanie and one great-grandson and his step son Bruce Wylie of Rogers, Arkansas, and his four daughters, Jennifer, Kristi, Jessica and Courtney;  step daughter, Deborah Crane of Aurora, CO and her sons, Steve Murdock and Phillip Crane; 16 step great grandchildren.

Service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:30 am at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Volunteer Services with the Muskogee Veterans Center.
