Irma Jean (Veal) Calhoun, 90, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Sallisaw. She was born March 24, 1926 in Best, Texas, the daughter of Eugene Davis "E.D." Veal and Erma Lucille (Brown) Veal. She was married to Spencer Calhoun on May 28, 1954 in Big Lake, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2006. Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and a Southern Baptist.
She was a member of the Home Extension Club, the Red Hatters, Women's Missionary Union, and Garden Club.
She was a Sunday School Teacher and 4-H Sponsor.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International and the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
Survivors are:
3 daughters: Donna and Joe Sweeney of Sallisaw, OK, Cindy and Mike Wilson of Purcell, OK,
and Paula and Robert Rutherford of Choctaw, OK
8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer; her parents, Eugene Davis "E.D."
and Erma Lucille (Brown) Veal; and 1 brother, Joe D. Veal
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 1 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 10 am - 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
