Bill Brown entered Heaven's gates for a glorious father/son reunion August 15, 2015 at the age of 73. Bill was born August 5, 1942 in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma the son of Nolan and Viola Brown. He received his education at Georgetown Elementary in the Ft. Gibson "bottoms" and graduated from Ft. Gibson High School with the class of 1960. He graduated from Northeastern State University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. His first teaching and coaching position was in Neosho, Missouri from 1967 - 1973. Six solid classes of Geometry, coaching football and track, and driving an early morning bus route was a challenge that he met "head on" and excelled. College prep math was his teaching assignment at Ft. Gibson High School from 1973 - 1976.

Upon completion of his Master's Degree in Administration, Bill became Vice Principal and football coach at MacDonald County High School in Anderson, Missouri, followed by Vian High School Principal. He became legendary for walking the halls with his paddle in his back pocket. One of his greatest joys was watching his sons become Wolverines and being a staunch supporter, at times quite vocal at sporting events.

He was a building contractor and took great pride in any and all of his creativity. Bill purchased a table saw and started "from scratch" with the help of Short Richards and turned out beautiful cabinets, eventually progressing to building homes. His "can do" attitude served him well. His three sons often worked by his side doing the "grunt work" but gained a wealth of knowledge that they use to this day.

Bills trips to Mexico and Canada were priceless to him. Stories were told for years as his laughter grew.

Papaw's projects for his grandchildren became a driving force in his life. His shop was his refuge in latter years.

Bill was a firm believer in learning by doing and was not intimidated by challenges.

He completed his career in education as assistant principal, principal, and maintenance director to Wagoner Public Schools from 1991 - 2000.

Eight grandchildren and one great grandson were at the top his list of "most important" to him in his life. His will to live was driven by his desire to watch them grow with his each passing day and observe their unique qualities. He would often comment of all the possibilities facing them. Papaw was extremely proud of each and every one and did all he could to help them in their journey. His grandchildren witnessed his strong desire and his courageous battle to the end. One of his finest hours was the day each and every one of his grandchildren and great grandson were witnesses to his baptism at Blackgum Baptist Church. His faith became the driving force in his life.

Bill will be fondly remembered as dad, papaw, brother, uncle, friend, loving husband, coach, Mr. Brown and a fighter.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Randy; his parents, Nolan and Viola Brown; brother, Geral Brown; mother and father in law, Bill and Virginia Harper; and brother in law, Leon Matula.
