Peary Paul Brackett, age 71, passed away October, 27, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The last of 5 sons, he was born March 19, 1944 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Ira C. Brackett, Sr. and Nettie (Sparks) Brackett. The family moved to Wellman, Texas where his father was a teacher and preacher. In 1952 they returned to Sallisaw, Oklahoma where his father continued to preach and teach school. Peary graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1962. Peary continued his education by attending Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where he graduated in May 1967. While attending Northeastern, Peary met Juanita Mosby at a Wednesday night church service at South College Church of Christ. Peary and Juanita married November 1, 1967 and moved to Houston, Texas where Peary started working for Pan American Oil Company. While in Houston, Peary and Juanita had a son, John Clark. They moved to New Orleans to continue working in the oil industry and while there Carolyn Elizabeth was born.They moved back to Houston in 1972 and Peary began his career in teaching. For the next 21 years the family lived in Spring, Texas and attended Spring Church of Christ where Peary served as an elder and continued teaching school. Following his retirement from education in 1998, Peary and Juanita moved to the cabin on Lake Tenkiller. Peary and Juanita attended the Lake Road Church of Christ in Gore where he served as an elder. During his retirement, he enjoyed lake life and spending time with his family and the joy of his life, his 5 grandchildren. God called him home on October 27, 2015.

1 daughter: Carolyn Brackett Morrison of Edmond, OK

5 grandchildren: Kayla Morrison, Landon Brackett, Savannah Brackett, Chandler Morrison and Collin Morrison

Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald Glenn Brackett, Ira Clark Brackett, Jr., Charles Leon Brackett and Roy Lee Brackett

Funeral service will be Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1 pm at Lake Road Church of Christ in Gore. Burial will be at Sallisaw City Cemetery.

Viewing will be Thursday from noon - 8 pm.  The family will greet friends from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
