Obituary

Mrs. Retta Bennett was born May 8, 1920 in Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charlie "Bud" Brown and Mary Lucy (Christian) Brown.  She was married to William Cody Bennett for 50 years before his death on August 5, 1990.  Mrs. Bennett received her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Northeastern State University.  She was an Elementary Educator at Vian Schools for over 20 years, a member of the OEA and Muskogee County Retired Educators Association and member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian, Ok.  She passed this life on October 26, 2009 in Braggs, Oklahoma after having attained the age of 89 years, 5 months and 18 days.

4 daughters and 3 sons in law:
Liane Erkkila of Muskogee, Ok.,
Gail and Hal Warner of Braggs, Ok.,
Martha Lynn and Louie Slape of Braggs, Ok.
and Paula and Ronnie Page of Braggs, Ok.

3 sons and daughters in law:
Joe and Linda Bennett of Muskogee, Ok.,
David and Dee Bennett of Vian, Ok.,
and James V. and Cassandra Bennett of Stoney Point, Ok.

1 daughter in law: Doris Bennett of Vian, Ok.

24 grandchildren

several nieces, nephews, cousins
and other relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents,
1 son: William T. "Bill" Bennett, 1 son in law: Hank Erkkila,
1 sister: Jimmie Baker and 1 brother: Ernie Brown
