Rev. Mr. Robert J. Barnes, 79, of Roland, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was born July 22, 1936 in Rocky Point, Oklahoma, the son of Noah Dallas Barnes and Golda Lee (Long) Barnes. He married Phyllis Catooza on May 28, 1960 in Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Barnes was retired as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Deacon at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

12 grandchildren: Tamara Barnes, Tiffany Rinehart, Rachel Pitts, Emily Barnes, Heather Cadenhead, Whitney Barnes, Samantha Barnes, Robert Barnes, Josh Barnes, Kyla Lasiter, Nick Barnes and Dylan Barnes
6 great grandchildren: Blake Rinehart, Trevor Lasiter, Brianna Rinehart, Jack Cadenhead, Emma Barnes and Bryson Lasiter
1 sister: Bea Allen of Sallisaw, OK
1 brother: Dale Barnes of Sallisaw, OK

He was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Matthew Robert Barnes, his parents, 4 brothers: Eddie, Dallas, Easter, and Earl Barnes and 2 sisters: Sophie English and Mildred Geisler
Funeral service is Friday, January 15, 2016 at 12 pm St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma with Father Jeff Polasek officiating. Burial will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be Wednesday 10 am - 8 pm and Thursday 10 am - 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
A rosary will be held Thursday at 6 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.
