Obituaries

 Mr. Gary B. "Ben" West
1917-2008

 He attended Cameron College in Lawton, Ok., Served in the Army Air Corps/U.S. Air Force in World War II during the Anzio Invasion and served during Korean War. Following discharge from the military, Mr. West was a civil engineering technician with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service in Ellensburg, Washington and later transferred to Denver, CO.   In 1957, he transferred in to the U.S. Forest Service in Delta, CO.  After retiring in 1973, he, his wife and youngest son, Brian moved to New Hope community.  He designed and built a home, then became a licensed electrician, doing business as G.B. West Electric.  In addition to business and commercial wiring, he served several years with Sequoyah County Water Association before a second retirement.  He was a member and deacon of Akins Baptist Church.

Survivors:

1 daughter and son in law: Terry L. West Cooper and Gerald of Long community, Ok.

2 sons and 1 daughter in law:  Gary E. and Carole West of Plano, Tx.
and Brian R. West of New Hope community, Ok.

1 granddaughter: Elise R. Cooper-Horne and husband, Mark A. Horne of Muldrow, Ok.

5 grandsons: Garrett B. Cooper of Manassas, Va.,
Ray B. West and wife, April Helms West of Arkoma, Ok.,
Benjamin T. West of College Station, Tx.,
Cody C. West of Las Vegas, Nv.,
and Joseph W. West of Plano, Tx.

1 great-granddaughter: Annaliese Horne of Muldrow, Ok.

1 brother: Elzie West of Miller Ridge community, Ok.

many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife EvaLee, brothers Norvel and Samual W. West, Jr. and sister, Winnie West Corley and Vera West
