Ellis Butler "E.B." Sanders, P.D., lovingly known as "Poppy", 86 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Mr. Sanders was born October 15, 1930 on Drake Prairie, near Sallisaw, Oklahoma, the son of Mary Elizabeth (Byers) Sanders and George Oocha Sanders, Sr. He was married to Cherie Elaine Roper on July 12, 1952 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Mr. Sanders was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Veteran, he received his Doctorate degree in Pharmacy and was owner/operator of Ivey's Drug Store. He later retired as the pharmacist of Sequoyah Memorial Hospital. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, a Mason, Shriner, Sallisaw School Board member, member of the Jaycee's and Lion's Club.

Survivors are:

Wife, Cherie of the home

1 son and daughter in law, Robert Sanders D.O. and Wanda of Lavaca, Arkansas

2 daughters and 1 son in law, Jana & Jack Wright of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Cindy Sanders of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

7 grandchildren, Cheryl Vann and her husband Shannon, Paul Sanders, Shannon Foster and her husband Trace, Karri Davis and her husband Greg, Kelly Wright and his wife Jennifer, Lance Rogers and his wife Elizabeth, Brandon Rogers and his wife Donna

17 great grandchildren

Numerous other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his Parents and 2 Brothers, George O. Sanders,Jr. and Oocha Sanders .

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma with Rev. Al Potts officiating. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.

Active pallbearers will be Paul Sanders, Kelly Wright, Lance Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Nathan Vann, and Shane McHale

Honorary pallbearers will be James Virgil Farmer, David Martin and Drew Martin

Viewing will be Saturday Noon-8 pm, Sunday 2 - 8 pm, and Monday Noon - 8 pm at
Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 - 8 pm Monday
