Mr. Frank Owen Roark was born November 4, 1924 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The son of Charles C. Roark and Clara Brockman Roark. He married Ruth Ann Ford Roark on June 2, 1952 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2001 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Roark attended and graduated from Vian Public Schools. He attended Connors State College and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. After serving his country, he taught at Carlile Schools, until the school was consolidated with Gore Schools. He retired as an Elementary Principal with Gore Schools. Mr. Roark was a member of the Sequoyah County Retired Teachers Association, the O.E.A., N.E.A., V.F.W., D.A.V. and a longtime member of the First Christian Church where he served as an Elder of the Church. Mr. Roark passed this life on August 27, 2007 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma after having attained the age of 82 years, 8 months and 23 days.
Survivors are: 1 daughter and son in law: Linda and Gary McClanahan of Sallisaw, Ok.; 2 sons and 2 daughters in law: Steve and Teresa Roark of Pine Top, Az., Mike and Jenny Roark of Jackson, Mo.; 4 grandchildren: Sara McClanahan, Summer Vyne, Christopher Roark, and Caitlin Beller; 5 sisters: Violet Long of Pleasant Hills, Ca., Lillian Cantrell and husband Delton of Oklahoma City, Ok., Lois Shanks and husband Bob of Glenpool, Ok., Monnie Sourjohn of Sapulpa, Ok., Fern Andrews and husband A.C. of Sallisaw, Ok.; 2 brothers: Paul Roark and wife Ruby of Checotah, Ok., and John Roark of Vian, Ok.; Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister: Dixie Ruth Cook; and 1 brother: Charles Roark;
