Daphine L. Holder, 86 passed away peacefully Saturday morning July 17, 2010 at her home in Muncie, Indiana. She was born Sep. 3, 1923 in Gans, OK, the daughter of Dock and Elizabeth Brewer. She graduated from Gans High School in 1942. On April 17, 1944, she married Wayne Holder. She and Wayne, along with Lyle and wife, Bonnie Holder, founded Holder Mattress in 1947 in Kokomo, IN. They worked and raised their family during this time.
Following the death of Wayne in 1979, Daphine moved to Muncie, In. where she became president and owner of Holder Bedding, which is now managed by her four children.
Her surviving children include, Carole L. Holder and Allen K. Holder, both of Muncie, IN, Gary L. Holder of Anderson, IN and Scott W. Holder (wife, Kathy) of Lafeyette, IN. She is also survived by her twin sister: Maxine Sparkman of Ft. Smith, AR; her brother, Freddie Brewer (wife, Edna) of Gans, OK; and a special niece, Nancy Holder of Muncie, In. who was her caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
