Helen Jean Graf, 85, died on February 17, 2016 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was born September 8, 1930 to John Wesley Roland and Iona Lou Purvis in Qunicy, Illinois. She had 8 sisters and 2 brothers. No funeral services will be held at her request.
Helen married Leland Dean Graf on February 18, 1950 and they had four children. She retired from the Kern County School District in Bakersfield, California as a special education teacher and retired to Sallisaw, Oklahoma with her beloved husband. She was a member of the Sallisaw Seventh Day Adventist Church and was affectionately know at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital ER as the "teddy bear lady".
She is survived by daughter: Linda Graf Stewart and her husband Jack of Bentonville, AR, son:Roger Lee Graf and his wife Susan of Trout Creek, MT; daughter: Melanie Susan Graf and son Timothy Paul Graf of Bakersfield, California. She lived in Sallisaw for many years at the end of her life with grandson, Shawn William Brown and great grandson, Jacob Brown. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Leland Dean Graf.
Helen will be missed deeply by those that loved and knew her. In memory of her name, contributions may be made to the Sallisaw Seventh Day Adventist Church
