Bernie Gipson was born May 8, 1943 in Pawhuska, Ok., the son of Bernard Buchanan Gipson, Sr. and Goldie Virginia Martin Gipson. He was married to Emma Lu Been on Sept. 13, 1997 in Eureka Springs, Ar. Mr. Gipson was a graduate of Barnsdall High School and received his B.S. in Biochemistry from O.S.U. in Stillwater, Ok. He worked for the Agriculture Conservation Stabilization Service (FSA) in Sequoyah, Adair and Cherokee Counties. Bernie was a former employee with the Oklahoma State Department of Health and worked as a steward with the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission from 1980 to 1994. He was a former president and board member of the Sequoyah County Rural Water Dist. 4 and was just elected to another term as an FSA committee member. He was a cattle rancher, an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and a member of First Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Ok. Mr. Gipson passed this life on Dec. 16, 2009 in Ft. Smith, Ar. after having attained the age of 66 years, 7 months and 8 days.

1 sister in law: Linda Gipson of Broken Arrow, Ok.
4 grandchildren: Taren Hetherington, Logan and Landen Gipson and Seth Morgan
