Nell Gean, 92, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Sallisaw. She was born January 31, 1925 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Omer H. Smith and Elsie B. Robinson Smith. She was married to Alton Gean, Jr. on December 19, 1948 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2007 in Fayetteville, AR. Nell was a 1942 graduate of Sallisaw High School. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1948 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and then attended Northeastern State University where she received her Master in Education. She was an elementary teacher at Sallisaw Public Schools for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Gean Jr. and her parents
Funeral service is Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
Viewing will be Saturday 2 - 8 pm and Sunday 2 - 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
The family will greet Sunday from 3- 5 pm at the funeral home.
