Obituaries

 

Loyce Louise (Vance) Lane-Farless was born October 26th, 1932 in Vian, Ok to Irvin and Mary Vance. She passed this life on August 8th, 2016, having obtained the age of 83years 9 months 13 days. She married Amos Lane on February 19th, 1949. They were married for 50 years when Amos passed away in March of 1999. They had three children; Larry Lane Sr of Cookson, Ok, Roger Lane of Missouri, Judith (Lane) Freer of Midwest City, Ok. 

Loyce later married Alfred Farless on October 3rd, 2002 in Van Buren, Ar. Alfred also preceded her in death in 2011 after 9 years of marriage. Loyce had 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Loyce was also preceded in death by two brothers John Vance and Bob Vance and has one surviving sister, Royce Bobalik of Wichita, Ks. Loyce was a strong willed, determined woman that not only went by the name Loyce, she also went by the names; Grandma, MaMa LuLu, Supermans wife, and badge #846. Loyce always accomplished everything she set her mind to. She dropped out of Sallisaw High School so she could marry Amos Lane. She then went out and got her GED, graduated from Northeastern State University with her teaching degree and became a teacher at Sallisaw High School. She later moved to OKC for Amos's job. While in OKC , she started working for the state of Oklahoma as a social worker, meanwhile she got her Masters degree from OU, graduating with honors. Amos & Loyce later moved back home to Sallisaw, where she was eventually promoted to area supervisor for Child Welfare-DHS. Loyce somehow found time to join the Eastern Star branch of the Masonic lodge in 1962 and volunteered for 54 years with that wonderful organization. Loyce also became a reserve deputy in 1980 and volunteered under 4 different Sheriff's. Loyce also enjoyed hunting, gardening, square dancing, and traveling. 

Visitation will be from noon-6pm on Tuesday, Aug 9th and from 10am-8pm on Wed Aug 10th, with the family and friends meeting guests from 6p-8p on Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral home. Funeral services will also be at Agent Mallory Martin funeral home on Thursday, Aug 11th at 10am, with Dr. Lee Woodard officiating. Burial will be at Round Mountain cemetery.
