Velma Doris (Rogers) Boyd, 82, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 in Sallisaw. She was born September 7, 1933 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma the daughter of Earl J. and Geneva Leona (Taylor) Rogers. She married Steven Daniel Boyd on November 28, 1952 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2008 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Mrs. Boyd was a retired CNA from Sequoyah Memorial Hospital and a Baptist.
Survivors are:
1 daughter: Phyllis McDaniel and husband Steve of Ada
1 son: Steve Boyd and wife Marie of Sallisaw
6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild
5 brothers: Garland, Vearldean, Wilburn, Roy, and Hubert Rogers
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Daniel Boyd; 1 daughter, Carol June Smith; 1 grandchild, Steven Bradley Boyd; her parents, Earl and Geneva Rogers; 1 sister, Christine Bordelon; and 2 brothers, Marchel and Arlen Rogers
Graveside service will be Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10 am at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
Viewing will be Friday 10 am - 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
